Description: If you have driven down the Mass Pike recently, you may have noticed the large screen on the side of the new WGBH building. In order to find out more about the daily images on the oversize LCD screen or to simply learn more about the complex relocation to Brighton, you will want to joins us on April 9th for this tour and presentation. Long an anchor tenant in the Allston section of Boston, WGBH now makes its home in a start-of-the-art, 310,000 square foot complex at Brighton Landing. It is a unique combination of technology and office space built to further WGBH’s role as a leader in public television and media. The program will focus on the many goals of the new building, from cutting edge technology and green initiatives, to housing all of the WGBH employees in one connected facility with pre-existing parking challenges. Many of the facility’s expanded editing, recording, performance and theater areas cater to groups locally and nationwide who can now take advantage of the public spaces. The speakers for the evening will be David Norton, Director of Physical Plant, and Chris Pullman, Vice President of Branding and Visual Communication. In his 26 years with WGBH, David Norton’s responsibilities have included facilities, security, purchasing, building construction, and acting as a link between WGBH and the local community. He was also part of the original discussions to leave the Allston area and build a new facility, which became a 10 year process. Chris Pullman acted as liaison between WGBH and the architect for the project. His work with the project team focused on maintaining the character and function of the facility, and how to balance the needs of the 950 employees with the intended public use of the building. In addition, he was involved with the design and implementation of the interior graphics shown throughout the building. We look forward to seeing you on April 9th for what promises to be an exciting and informative evening.
