Established in 1980, the International Facilities
Management Association is a non-profit, incorporated
association dedicated to serving the facility management
profession. IFMA strives to enhance the recognition
and integrity of the profession, while providing
facility professionals with the services and information
they need to advance their careers. The International
organization provides education, research, publications,
events, and alliances with other related associations
and organizations.
The Boston Chapter of IFMA was founded in 1984,
and its mission is to serve those who support the
built environment. Today our chapter numbers nearly
800 members, making it the second largest chapter
in the world. Long recognized as one of the most
active and progressive Chapters, the Boston Chapter
was honored as the 2001 International Chapter of
the Year, and was again recognized with this honor in 2007. Our
full calendar of educational and special events
offers many opportunities for professional growth
and networking. Full-time management staff and extraordinary
membership involvement keep our chapter affairs
running smoothly. Other chapter benefits and activities
include The InForMAnt newsletter, Awards of Excellence,
membership directory, and assistance with earning
and maintaining the Certified Facility Manager (CFM)
credential. Members are encouraged to participate
in chapter committees as well as our local networks
(related to Industry Councils) which are particularly
oriented to professional development.
